Dimphonyana Tsa Lapeng meaning
‘little gifts of home’
was established in January 2001.
Dimphonyana began as a Nursery and Pre-school catering to underprivileged children from impoverished informal settlements where most parents rely on part-time jobs.
It later be evolved into a place of safety for destitute children and individuals. The project is situated in Olievenhoutbosch (Centurion Township) with a population of ±200 000. Dimphonyana resulted from the relocation of informal settlements around Tshwane into the Township.
In 2004 the school expanded its services by opening a Place of Safety for abused children, HIV/AIDS orphans as well as children and mothers at risk. The intake capacity for the Nursery and Pre-School is 50 children 27 in the place of Safety and a total of 35 for temporary intakes .
In 2010 we expanded by including various skills Development and Training Programmes for the community, at a minimal scale.
The Nursery, Pre School and Place of Safety are registered with the Department of Social Development as a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) as ‘Dimphonyana Tsa Lapeng’.
