ZakaNaka Adventures

What does ZakaNaka mean?
“ZakaNaka” is a phrase common to a Zimbabwean tribe and, roughly translated, means “cool, very nice, good”. It is similar to the famous Swahili phrase “Hakuna Mutata” but just closer to home.

We (Rob and Janene) have been in the industry for over 10 years and have had our fair share of everything from overland trips through South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Tanzania, and Kenya, to working as river rafting guides, to running lodges, guest houses, camp sites and more. For the love of what we do, we started offering trips for the fun-loving, like-minded traveler who wants to see South Africa in an affordable way.

Our trips are aimed at offering a richer experience – instead of just driving through South Africa, we want you to explore it! With the feel of a road trip, there’s no rush to get everything done. We show people our country the way South Africans do it when showing their mates around.

Born in South Africa (Janene) and Zimbabwe (Rob grew up in South Africa), our passion for animals, nature and our country made us want to stay in South Africa. We feel that SA has so much to offer that you don’t need to leave the country! With its rich history, culture, desert, mountains, forests, beautiful little towns that are like uncut gems, and our Mother City, Cape Town, with her famous Table Mountain, South Africa is like a cup that is overflowing. It is so sad that most people are only exposed to a few drops – which is why we’d like to invite you to come swim with us!
