Yzerfontein Cycle Experience

The Blue Ribbon Yzerfontein Cycle Experience will take place on the 11th of June 2017. The cycle route is mostly flat, fast and non-technical, so it will appeal to both veteran cyclists looking for a fast 73km training ride, or the more relaxed rider looking to ride the 47km route.

The route:
Starting from the main beach parking area in Yzerfontein, the competitors will wind their way out of the town, onto the R315, and will turn off onto the Blombosch road which will take them into the West Coast National Park. The route is a mixture of tar and jeep track which leads back to the finish line at the main beach, where competitors will receive a medal, a Coca Cola, and a Goodie Bag from Premier FMCG. The excitement stems from the fact that entrants will be riding a unique route not normally open to the public.

While the cycle event itself will be the main focus of the day, it should not detract from the wonderful entertainment and food stalls which will allow the entire family to enjoy the day.

The event is sanctioned by the Pedal Power Organisation. As such, cyclists can be assured that route markings and safety arrangements adhere to the Association’s requirements.
