Our home made baby purees has a fresher taste than the commercial baby foods produced which may contain added preservatives. Yummy in my tummy fruits and vegetables are only steamed, this is the best cooking method for purees, as it retains more nutrients than boiling. Vitamin B and C are water soluble this means they leak into the water if boiled.
Babies are all diffrent and are all started on solids at diffrent ages. Some at 4 months some at 6 months and some ant 8 months.
How much will your 4-6 month old eat at this stage - Its not expected for babies to finish a meal, remembering this is a new experience for your baby. Measuring in teaspoon sizes for first meals more or less 7 teaspoons of solids will be sufficent for the first meal. As your baby gets older you will gradually increase the size and texture will change.
Many parents find their babies push the foods out of their mouths on the first few tries, this is normal. However it may also indicate that your baby is not yet ready for solids.
Only you know your baby and will be able to decide.
Our purees are freezable for 2 weeks as we only produce 2 weeks supply of puree. Our containers are not microwaveable and puree needs to be placed into baby eating bowls. The purees can only be warmed twice and if not finished within this time must be disposed of.
Happy feeding Happy babies!
