Story - Villa Blue

It started as an idea - I could run a bed & breakfast. 10 years ago whilst travelling in Mozambique the name Villa Blue came to my mind. I love travelling and I love crisp white linen. We were invited on a fishing holiday with my sister Lynne and brother-in-law Kevin. At the last moment I decided to pack my own linen as I was a little nervous about what I would find in the accommodation we had booked. It was self catering and I was trying to go- with-the-flow. You must know, I've been a salmon my whole life swimming upstream and never accepting the status quo. Needless to say when we arrived all was not as we expected. I could have sold my linen for a hefty sum to the other couples who had joined us. This has always been my selection criteria when I search for a place to stay. It's not negotiable!!! Clean White cotton is a pre-requisite.

Time has passed and our daughter has gone to university. We had a prefect place for our new guest house idea. It started with a renovation of a tired old teenagers pad. We ripped out the carpets and embarked on a project to rejuvenate the space for a tranquil, peaceful bedroom complete with lounge, dining area and kitchen. There is a private undercover patio overlooking the nahoon river and an additional garden. There is off street parking and the space is perfect for a travelling professional who is looking for the comforts of home and the privacey and safety whilst travelling on business.

The uniqueness of Villa Blue is that it is private. You do not have to join unfamiliar faces at a communal dining table where you have to make idle chit chat whilst waiting for your breakfast to arrive. We have created a compact kitchen that includes a fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster and coffee pod machine. A breakfast box of goodies can be arranged for your convenience and placed in your fridge awaiting your arrival. Alternatively you can pop into the Beach Road Spar a mere 800m away before you check in. Cooking is limited to microwave options. There is the convenience of Mr Delivery as an option too. Another alternative is to arrange with me for a dinner to be prepared for you. I will be doing a limited menu - still under construction and will gladly take requests from you.

The idea of Villa Blue is to make you feel as at home as possible without the constant presence of people in your space. Our team is made up of My Guest House Keeper Tandi, our Gardener Temba and Brian and I. We do have a cat who wonders around too named Aria.

Smoking is a tricky one for me as none of us smoke, so I have created a space under a tree where if you would like to puff away this would be your space to go to. Please let me know so that I can point it out to you.

Everyone has unique needs and we will try to accommodate them as much as possible. I do find that given enough notice I can move mountains so feel free to make your special requests and hopefully they are within my ability to do so.
