ESTABLISHMENT: REASON FOR ESTABLISHMENT There was a need to accommodate series of learners who were not enrolled in the local schools. Most of the learners were at risk, at that time aptly termed the “LOST GENERATION”. Most of them were activists’ teenage mothers who dropped out from school. Part of the group was the exiles and former guerrillas (Freedom fighters) from all political formations. The school was directly established and forcefully registered by community leaders. Because all political parties with differing ideologies were united in the project, the school was thus named UNITY. We did not have our own buildings, conducted lessons under trees and platooned with the schools.
