Two Moons Appaloosa Stud

.Two Moons Appaloosa Stud is the realization of the goals of Cobus Smit and his family. Two Moons was established in 2006 and set on 1000 hectares of land near Schweizer-Reneke in the North West Province of South Africa. The Stud is home to eight spectacular Appaloosas imported from the United States as well as 28 top South African bred broodmares. Over the years we have bred many National Champions and had horses competing very well against all other breeds in South Africa. Our goal is to develop Appaloosas between 15 and 17 hands high that will combine the conformation standards and bloodline requirements of the ApHC with the size and ability necessary to compete at the top levels of any equestrian sport in South Africa. Two Moons is positioned to use some of the best Appaloosa bloodlines from the USA to enhance the South African gene pool and to produce horses that will be competitive at international level in Appaloosa show and breeding. The foundation of our breeding program is the imported stallions, Drea Eagle's Dandy, Storm Runner and Financial Freedom . Our other imported stallions Luke's Like A Million and Hesa Cool Star are being used extensively. We have also acquired 2 South African Warmblood Mares bred from top class international bloodlines such as Dageraad, Hotline, Rohdiamant, Gribaldi, Rubinero, Hohenstein and Pik Bube to enhance our Appaloosa Sport Horse and Warmblood breeding programs. We have also started a Miniature Horse breeding program in 2014 with 4 miniature mares and our little black leopard miniature Appaloosa stallion MMC Spotcheck.
