The Full Monty Pilates Studio

Hello, my name is Mitya Sargeant. Many people who meet me for the first time may doubt that my roots are actually in the dance. I was a professional ballet dancer for 10 years of my life, the younger years and since then have been involved in ceramics, fine arts, the IT industry and so many things. I stumbled across Pilates in 2003 and immediately realized its benefits. I wished that I had the good fortune to have done this when I was jumping about on stage.

What soon followed were two intense training courses with Renee Watson in Constantia. The first was for mat work and the second a course on equipment training were Renee and her staff instructed us on how to effectively train others on the Pilates equipment. In 2006 I opened "Pilates on Long", a studio in the beautiful Long Street in Montagu.

Just before the 2010 Soccer World Cup I felt the need for a change and converted our home into a B&B. My wife and I however continued to teach Mat class at other venues. A few years later we sold our house and I used the opportunity to change paths altogether. The Pilates equipment stored in our loft gathering dust until it occurred to me that the people of Montagu could gain from the use of this equipment and the idea to open The Full Monty Pilates Studio was born.

The break from Pilates of about three years proved an interesting point. It made me realize how much I required the benefits of Pilates training myself. If its strength and toning, stretching and becoming more supple or rehabilitation injuries or alignment.
