Stan Andrews

Earlier this year, I, Stan Andrews, won a place in the Goliath challenge www.goliathchallenge.co.za, enabling me to finally live out one of my lifelong dreams - summiting Mt Kilimanjaro!

After winning the contest, I realised this would be a great platform to raise awareness for a cause close to my heart – as a person living a great life with a prosthetic, I am passionate about making people aware of the possibility of changing the lives of the many people, of all ages and races, living unfulfilled lives because they have poor prosthetics or none at all. Many of these people are unable to enjoy simple pleasures we take for granted like walking, exercising, performing household tasks or playing with their children.

By taking on this challenge, I hope to demonstrate just how much someone with a physical disability can achieve with the aid of good prosthetics and take a stand for those who have raised up to the challenge of leading normal, prosperous lives despite their physical disabilities.

Once back from Kilimanjaro, my next goal will be to summit each the eight highest non-massif mountains – one on each continent, with hope of gaining recognition for cultivating an attitude towards living passionately and without regret.

I want to make a difference. I want to show the world that anything is possible, disability or not, it's your attitude that counts...
