Spaza Art Gallery

The Spaza Art Gallery was started in Troyeville 2001 .Spaza Gallery’s vision is to showcase all types of artists and from all over South Africa. The gallery acts as a venue for a wide range of activities including exhibitions, poetry readings, music, workshops, theatre and comedy. It tries to be a community-based facility. Spaza Art Gallery has held exhibitions of works by artists from almost every province of South Africa. These works have ranged from small naive paintings to major sculptures, and the exhibitions were usually accompanied by music, dance and poetry by members of the community.
Some of these artists have since moved on to have exhibitions in major centres throughout South Africa, but have not forgotten the important part that Spaza Art Gallery has played in their careers and are often seen back at the Gallery. Numerous other established and well-known artists make regular stops at the Spaza Art Gallery to 'touch base' with friends and fellow artists.
