Solar Beam (Pty) Ltd has been operating in South Africa for over 36 years. The company was founded by Graham Mundy, widely recognised as a pioneer in the development of Southern Africa's solar power sector. Mundy has been involved in solar power for 38 years, and developed his passion for alternate energy long before most of the world woke up to the danger of the ongoing use of fossil fuels.
Solar Beam is the longest operating solar company in South Africa, and was the first solar water heating manufacturing company in the country to attain the full SABS Mark of Approval. As South Africa has come face to face with its rapidly changing energy context, Solar Beam is taking its place as an industry leader in residential and industrial markets. The company has installed solar systems throughout Africa (reaching as far afield as the Indian Ocean Islands), delivering large savings on residential installations and major savings (in excess of 50%) for the likes of Toyota and Bidvest on their industrial water heating bills.
