Our Accommodation is situated on the shores of the Vaal River, Smilin Thru Resort is the perfect laid-back getaway. You’ll find us just on the outskirts of Parys where the natural beauty is mesmerizing. Situated in the Vaal Triangle area of South Africa it offers a scenic paradise in the unspoiled nature of the Vredefort Dome World Heritage site. Ideal for a weekend getaway for those living in Gauteng, only 1 and a half hours from Johannesburg.
The resort fronts the Vaal River and is surrounded by the rugged hills that mark the edge of the Vredefort Dome Impact Crater. The views are stunning and the surrounds are peaceful and beautiful, with many outdoors activities and pursuits on offer – from hikes and walks to game viewing to fishing to canoeing or white water rafting on the river. There is also an abundance of wildlife and bird species in this ‘eco-playground’ area.
The tranquillity of the surrounds and natural beauty makes this the perfect setting for hosted many ultra-special weddings, events, team-building business functions. Wedding Couples are given a free weekend for the year following their wedding, to conjure up the memories of marital bliss.
