More about Sleepy Hollow Horse Riding

Horse Riding Lessons

We offer riding lessons for both children and adults from Mondays to Fridays during the school term. Riding lessons are 30 minutes long for individual lessons. If the rider wants to later join a group which has space for another rider, and the instructor judges the rider capable of meeting the abilities of the other riders in the group, the rider may join a group for 1 hour lessons weekly instead of individual lessons. The rider will have one lesson per week every week, at the cost of R1 855.00 per school term.

We can also arrange ‘once off’ lessons for guests visiting on holiday. This costs R250.00 for one half an hour lesson.

Please phone (021 789 2341 or 083 261 0104) or e-mail (sleepy@intekom.co.za) us if you are interested in horse riding lessons. One of our experienced instructors will get back to you as soon as possible to let you know when they have availability, so that you may discuss what times would suit you the best.

Duration: 2 hours
Arrival time: ½ hour before trail
Cost: R460.00 per person

Arrival time is 30 minutes before actual time booked so we may meet and greet, supply you with the correct equipment, sign indemnities and do a safety talk.

Riding experience is not essential as we allocate horses according to skill, however you need to bear in mind that horse riding is considered an extreme sport and horses all have their own personalities.

The trail will be kept at a walk. Only in certain exceptions will there be a trot or a canter. In accordance with Table Mountain National Parks rules no galloping is allowed on the beach at any time.

If you are pregnant, have had a recent operation or have a medical condition that may be deemed unsafe to ride (if unsure please ask us), for safety reasons you may not ride on any of our trails or rides.

No alcohol or recreational drugs may be consumed before the ride, and no alcohol is allowed on the beach.

Riding hats are compulsory and we do supply these. No hat – no ride.

Riders must wear long pants and closed, secure shoes with a small heel, which we supply if you do not have any.

When you book we need to have a clear understanding of your riding experience, please note the following when deciding on what level of experience you fall into:

Novice = less than 100 times
Semi-experienced = more than 100 times or do not fall into the below ‘experienced’ criteria.
Experienced = more than 1,000 times and have competed, owned and ridden own horse and are currently riding.

Booking is essential and we require 24hrs notice of cancellation as we bring in trail guides especially for these trails.
