Simonsberg Trails

Since 1998, Dirtopia has been a key driver of the MTB industry through events, trail construction and profiling the sport. The Trail Centre / 'Fietswinkel' at Welgevonden continues this drive and is sure to enhance the fantastic Stellenbosch mountain bike trail opportunities even further.

Wednesday night social rides will leave from the shop at 17h30 and a full bike service workshop are run by expert mechanic & wheelbuilder, Pierre de Villiers. The Trail Centre is your one stop shop for trail & event info, supplies bike sales & rentals.

Simonsberg Trails

Annual permits for the Simonsberg trails are now available at Dirtopia Trail Centres. It includes access for 365 days a year and 6 bottles of top wines (2b Muratie, 2b Delheim, 2 Uitkyk). You'll receive a card that you can swipe at the Trail head.

***Annual Simonsberg permit holders will qualify to a 5% discount on every case purchased at the Uitkyk Wine Tasting centre.


Day permits are R50 per person per day. This is for mountain biking or running.

These are available at either on of our Trail Centres that are open every day from 08h00. Or from Muratie & Delheim restaurants from 09h00. You can arrange to buy your permits the day before at our offices.

Place: Current trail head at Muratie, R44 Stellenbosch or at Delheim Wine Estate. Get your permits at their restaurants or at our Trail Centres

Permits can be bought at Dirtopia Trail Centre (Delvera) all weekend (open all day) or at Welgevonden shop in the mornings.

Trails: Ride 10km up to 20km – LOADS of singletrack with various options to ride - go play!

Trails are marked for a 10km (with about 8km of singletrack!) and there are various options to ride up to 20km. A map will be available at the trailhead. You can follow the Muratie loop, Delheim loop, Uitkyk loop or all three...

Muratie restaurant will be open for breakfast & lunch and there is Delheim next door as well. Don't forget the wine :-)


Trail Runners are welcome to enjoy the trails too – permits required as well.

Remember to be friendly to all trail users and yield when required.

IMBA Rules of the Trail apply as usual.
