LEGAL FRAMEWORK ON ESTABLISHMENT OF SELEBI PHIKWE TOWN COUNCIL
Selebi Phikwe Town Council was established through the ‘Establishment of the Selebi Phikwe Town Council Order’ under Regulation 4 of the Townships Act of 1965 (CAP.40:02) issued on the 26th of October 1974. The Act provides composition and functions of Council.
COMPOSITION OF SELEBI PHIKWE TOWN COUNCIL
As defined in paragraph 7 of the Schedule of the Declaration of Townships Order Selebi Phikwe Town Council consists of:
(a) 14 elected members
(a) 2 nominated members
INSTITUTIONAL STRUCTURE
Selebi Town Council, in accordance with the Local Government Act 2012, consists of the political wing which is led by the Mayor and the administrative wing which is led by the Town Clerk. Functions of Council are discharged through the following committees:

2. Finance and General Purpose Committee
3. Education, Health and Social Services Committee
4. Self Help Housing Agency and Physical Planning Committee
5. Performance Monitoring Committee
6. Audit Committee
7. Local Economic Development Committee
