INTRODUCING SAXON COLLECTION

July, 2015 | When one thinks of The Saxon, the luxury setting of the Hotel, Villas and Spa in Sandhurst, Johannesburg, springs to mind. Originally the private residence of Douw Steyn, one of South Africa’s leading captains of commerce, the multi-award winning Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa is a revered destination amongst local and international travelers alike.

While this renowned property is undoubtedly the flagship offering, there have been two unique additions to the Saxon portfolio to date. Although both can be found on the grounds of the Shambala Private Game Reserve in the picturesque Waterberg mountain range of Limpopo, each offers an entirely different, entirely exclusive experience. The kind of experience one would expect from the Saxon brand.

It is thus with great pleasure that the Saxon launches its unique consortium of exclusive properties under one name, The Saxon Collection. It is in this way that guests can be assured of the highest standards and service as associated with the Saxon name.

In addition to The Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa, the Saxon Collection affords guests the opportunity to experience the beauty of African bushveld in luxurious surrounds of Zulu Camp. An idyllic bush retreat, Zulu Camp combines the best experiences of a private safari lodge with the charm of a camp, ensuring a unique and unforgettable stay.

The most recent addition to the Saxon Collection is the Nelson Mandela Centre for Reconciliation. Built especially for Nelson Mandela as his personal retreat, it was opened in 2001 and served as a haven of tranquility and peace. Here, he could receive guests, and parties could meet in the spirit of friendship against a backdrop of secluded natural beauty. It was also a place where he could rest with his family. Closed as a mark of respect since his passing in 2013, the Centre was reopened earlier this year. For the first time, the homestead in its entirety is open to bookings for small groups and families visiting Shambala.

Each of the exclusive destinations in this remarkable collection epitomises the unique characteristics that sets it apart from any other experience in the world. We look forward to expanding the Saxon Collection to offer our guests inimitable experiences and unparalleled luxury across Africa, and beyond.
