Background
DESCRIPTION OF RING CONTACT FIGHTING ART: The main contents of this fighting art are as follows:

Ballet
The movements form a part of the art through the balance and rhythm. Joe Viljoen received the highest degree in ballet and can thus develop ballet movement into powerful fighting techniques.
Boxing
The semi and full hand techniques to the face, and full contact to the middle section of the body. The footwork is developed to suite the style of fighting.

Karate
The controlled kick techniques are semi and fully placed to the face and full contact kicks to the middle section of the body.
Judo and Wrestling
The grips and throws are also taught to the students to use in self-defence.

CULTURE ACCEPTANCE: Our sport is based on Christian beliefs. We do not use the Eastern karate forms of kneeling and shouting. The languages used during classes are English and Afrikaans. No Eastern languages are used.

THE SAFETY ASPECTS OF FIGHTING: This sport concentrates on the practice of safety without forgetting the real meaning of self-defence. All our fighters wear protective gear. The protective gear consists of 8-oz or 10-oz gloves, foot and shin protection, mouth, groin and head protection. The fighting rules are strictly used, so that injuries are prevented. Contact is fully used on the body, because your body has good developed muscles, which can absorb shock. COMPETITION RULES: The fight take place in a ring with a Centre referee, Head point official, Three judges, Timekeeper and Medical assistants. The following methods of fighting is available:

Semi-Contact Fighting
The fights are divided into two one-minute rounds with a 30-second rest period after each round. All techniques to the back and from the hip to the ankles are unauthorized. In the case of any unauthorized techniques being used, the fighter will be disqualified. The fight will immediately be stopped, unless the unauthorized technique was proven to be an accident. The fight will take place in a Ring with 3 or 4 ropes.

Full Contact Fighting
This method of fighting are between 3-12 rounds of two minutes with a one-minute rest period after each round. All techniques to the face and body are full power blows. No kicks lower than the belt of your opponent are allowed. All South African Title Fights are 10 rounds and World Title fights are 12 rounds.

WKO (World Kickboxing Organisation)
Low-Kick Fighting (Kickboxing)
These fights are also between 3-12 rounds of fighting. This fighting method can be 2 or 3-minute rounds. All kicks to the legs and body can be used.

Thai Boxing
These fights are also between 2-12 rounds of fighting. This fighting method can be 2 or 3-minute rounds. All kicks to the legs and body can be used. Elbow and knee can also be used in the fight. Only gloves are used for protection.
Weapon Fighting
Eastern weapon fighting methods are used in the sport.
“Bo fighting” - Foam 1.4m stick and fighting on point-scoring method.
“Nunchaku’s” - Foam weapon used on a point-scoring method.
All the necessary safety equipment must be used in weapon fighting.
