Since 1987 Conservation has been the focus in this area. And just as well! Years later with the promulgation of the Biodiversity Act and the Protected Areas Act the value of the region is independently and scientifically confirmed. The South African Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) maps two listed threatened ecosystems and the State identifies the region for expansion of (formally) protected areas.
The Conservation work continues as landowners adopt more structured practices to protect biodiversity, and work more closely together.
Outreach programmes to the residents and the general public continue, and particularly through the monthly "Walk and Talks".
