The Remo’s brand was named in memory of Remo Giuseppe Scribante, whose “fratelli” (brothers) Renzo and Franco opened the group’s first café in 2007 … an authentic reflection of Europe in the heart of Umhlanga. Remo’s Originale (as it is now known) was the forerunner of a group of restaurants that, although all subtly different, are based on the same old-fashioned values and principles.
Remo’s Originale
With its quaint fountain and courtyard, this café has a delightful, unhurried European energy. It’s loved by its patrons for its delicious breakfasts and scrumptious lunches. It’s also very family-friendly. The space is available for hire and regularly hosts private parties, as well as prestigious events like the annual Ferrari Day.

Remo’s Maximilliano
A “larger-than life experience” this store encompasses a restaurant, a deli and an artisanal bakery. With its double-volume space, fireplace and luxe interior, it’s definitely the “grandest” store in the group – but the glitz doesn’t undermine the comfort factor. Patrons linger over their meals, relax over imported craft beers, and savour the carefully selected wines.
