POTCHVegas

After years of experience, collaboration and planning hundreds of events across SA with student residences of universities, in 2016 Partyfest X (Partyfest's special events division) has launched SA's first student music festival called POTCHVegas at Senwes Cricket Stadium in Potchefstroom.

The last 9 years Partyfest has built up, an extensive and unique private network and brand amongst students. This has happened nationwide through the popular, social event competitions, special events and now national festival Potchvegas.

The network has become a powerful and influential tool for marketing and promotion via channels of social media & word of mouth.

In 2016 the full extent of this network was used to launch SA’s first national student music festival in Potchefstroom, from 22-25 September, at Senwes Cricket stadium. The concept was to create the ultimate student paradise, hosting a local and international line-up with different stages, activities & entertainment that would suit all tastes and preferences with diversity in mind. On Heritage day (National Braai day), a braai was held as part of the program. We also launched the “Niteshine Run”, a colourful glow in the dark night race. Both were a first for Potchefstroom.

The festival was attended by 10 000+ over the period. We are very proud to say, that the festival took place, without any incidents, this was reported by the SAPS that were on site for the duration of the festival. It was a very difficult time in the history of Universities; we were under immense pressure from the local community & the #feesmustfall campaign, to cancel the festival. Three days before kick-off, all campuses where closed nationally, with only Pukke (Northwest University) remaining open.

In 2017 we plan to build on what we’ve learned from this experience, we will be working together with government, the local municipality and the right other partners to build an amazing annual weekend festival, where the youth (18+) of our beautiful country and in the future even international students can attend in peace and harmony.
