Platberg Harrismith Backpackers

Platberg Backpackers is located centrally in Harrismith and is walking distance from shops, banks, post office, restaurants and more.The backpackers has shared Dormitories as well as a private room. This is a comfortable option for travelers on a budget.

The three Dormitories have bunk beds and is shared. There is a private room with double bed and bunk bed sleeping four people. The rooms all make use of a communal bathroom. A communal kitchen is available for those looking to self-cater. We have an entertainment area with braai facilities and there is a lounge with DStv. A large veranda looks out over Platberg Mountain. There is safe parking for guests. Wi-Fi available as well as laundry faculties.

The Sterkfontein Dam is just 20 km away from town and is the largest dam is South Africa. The area also boasts hiking trails such as the Sentinel Peak with chain ladders, the lovely gorge hike, hiking to the 2nd highest waterfall in the world! We are the perfect base to work from, doing activities in the area. Guests can visit the Town Hall which has recently been restored or the Debora Retief Gardens in the town. A lovely old blockhouse build by the British can also be visited.
