Openroom Productions was started in 1997 by Darryl Torr with it’s sole focus on increasing the level of production available to local artists and bands. A great need existed for artists to produce better quality albums, and Darryl took up the challenge to create a space for these albums to be produced and increase the level of professionalism & creativity in the production industry.

Darryl received both local and international recognition for his efforts in this area, and scooped up a Grammy Award as well as 3 South African Music Awards.

He is now recognised as one of South Africa’s most acclaimed producers & mix engineer, has worked with a host of local and international artists in an variety of genres and continues to be at the forefront of audio production.

With Darryl’s extensive knowledge and love of all things audio, he has created a team within Openroom Productions that believes in quality and not quantity. This team is dedicated to providing artists & clients with a total production solution.

Openroom Productions has a diverse mixture of clientele within the audio, video & broadcast industry ranging from Live TV and Radio Broadcasting, to Live Streaming as well as Final Mix audio for Post Production services. At the core, remains Darryl’s love of local music and production.

Openroom Production’s latest studio offering in the trendy suburb of Greenside, boasts 2 fully equipped studios, a large live room with street views and a state-of-the-art the mixing room with the SSL 6000 E at it’s helm.
