NDPC is a shooting club affiliated to IDPA. It was started in November of 2014 after a need for such a sport was identified in Polokwane, South Africa. The founder is Wayne Coetsee, who together with Shaun Mockford, Frank Haas and Chris Grey were the first members of the club.
The main emphasis is sport shooting in defensive scenarios with handguns but we also cater for semi-auto rifles and shotguns - all used in the same stage or scenario.
The club is open to everyone who can legally use or own a firearm. Ages catered for start at 12 years and older.
Unlike some other shooting sports, no specialized equipment is required in order to participate and shooters of all skill levels are able to compete successfully because of the way the sport is structured. All shooter must shoot a classifier match. This enable the officials to classify the shooters into classes: Novice, Marksman, Sharp Shooter, Expert, Master, Distinguished Master.
When competing, shooters only shoot against shooters of the same classification, which enables everyone to be equally competitive.
