Nkosiyethu Primary School was founded in February 1927 by the Benedictine Sisters of Tutzing as Christ the King Primary School under Roman Catholic School Church. African Benedictine Sisters , better known as Twasana Sisters, came to Nongoma in 1940 to assist the Tutzing Sisters in teaching the children of Christ the King Primary.On April 1977, the school was taken over by the KwaZulu government.

Sisters continued to teach at the school and to look after the children who were boarders.However,the school continued to operate under the baton of the Roman Catholic Church. The Benedictine Sisters of Twasana continued with the main teaching and management function.The status of the school changed to a Public school on the Private Property
