The School of Information Technology on the South African campus of Monash University is one of six schools in the Faculty of Information Technology.

The Faculty of Information Technology at Monash is one of the largest IT faculties in the world with more than 3000 students from all over the globe. More than a hundred academic staff are actively involved in research and can act as post-graduate supervisors. The Faculty is ranked among the top 30 in the world in terms of research.

IT degree programs offered by Monash are approved by the South African HEQC/SAQA, the Australian Computer Society (ACS), and are based on the curricula recommendations of the ACM (which was established in 1947). The ACM has 80'000 members from all over the world. In 2001 the ACM began an initiative to define an IT Curriculum. Input was received from the IEEE, which was established in 1946 and has global recognition, and the AIS (Association for Information Systems), which was established in 1994 and is a global organization focusing on information systems. The curriculum of the IT degrees offered at Monash reflects the recommendations of these global associations: the ACM, IEEE and AIS. Students who graduate with our IT degrees can thus be assured of obtaining a degree that is globally relevant.
