In 2005, Nouwens Carpets and the local businesses in the Harrismith and Qwa Qwa surrounds recognized a need for the children in the community to be taken care of during the day. And so the Maluti Child Care Project was established. Presently, the project is administered by our company and all proceeds, donations and donations in kind are 100 % used to alleviate the plight of approximately 3630 orphaned and vulnerable children between the ages of 0 to 15 years old in the Harrismith and surrounding areas.
Our beneficiaries are from the rural communities and through existing partnerships with other organisations, we have ensured that the beneficiaries registered receive one wholesome, nutritious meal per day, five days a week. Meals are distributed through 8 mobile feeding kitchens which are run by our amazing group of 32 volunteers who are involved in preparing and cooking food and serving meals daily to thousands of children. Through additional training programs and support for children headed households we further assists in improving their quality of life by enabling them to become self-sufficient households in future.
