Hello :)

Growing up in Cape Town, SA, Lulu chef, Jade Valjee, initially pursued a career as a professional photographer. She, herself, overlooked food as an occupational choice until someone very close to her pointed out the obvious and helped to feed the flame.

A series of bold choices and patient support from her loved ones led her along a path which found her rubbing shoulders with some of the Cape's top chefs as she tried to find her feet in the mad world of the city kitchen.

It was all short lived, as she found herself craving something closer to the satisfaction she got from her home cooking experience. Coupled with this was the desire for a more grounded lifestyle, which led Jade out into the countryside where she took up a Commis Chef position at the 4-star Post House country hotel. Two years and an Eat Out award later, Jade has decided to take the leap of faith to focus on her own project on a full-time basis.

Lulu Catering Co. was born as a side project in a time where Jade was having doubts about her choice to pursue her true passion. As it turns out, it was the industry she had doubts about, not her passion for making food!
