Self-taught hair extensionist Leony Van Rooyen Leony has been in this industry since 1995. She started at 17 years old in her parents garage where there was only space for her and her clients.Today, she boasts an upmarket and stylish salon in affluent suburb of Kuils River.

Hailing from the disadvantaged community of Mitchell’s plain . She taught herself how to become a hairstylist , extensionist and building a business to be reckoned with in this competitive industry.

Leony specializes in weave extensions, bonding extensions, brazilian extensions and recently the latest in hair technology, the closure extension technique.

She only uses a double A GRADE 7-hair quality that is internationally recognised as one of the best quality hair extensions. She personally imports hair from Beijing China, and supplies the hair herself to ensure her clients receive only the best quality at an affordable price.

She believes in training hairstylists personally and teaching them her techniques. She has trained the Hair Academy students at the College of Cape Town. She is currently the Practical Lecturer for Urban Beauty Hair Academy. (www.urbanbeautyacedemy.com)

She also specializes in custom- made wigs for cancer patients and any illness that has left her clients without the comfort of their own hair. Leonys house of hair has launched an annual women empowerment movement. Since 2013, they have brought to the stage many exquisite artists, hosted over 500 people collectively and given exposure to many female owned businesses.

This year, 2015, is no different. Leony's house of hair will be hosting the " Woman in Gold " event on 9 August 2015 to showcase and expose all small businesses and the many talents our beautiful country has to offer. It will be a day of delicious food, exciting entertainment and the celebration of businesses .
