Laughing Waters Guest Farm and Lapa

Welcome to Laughing Waters.

Laughing Waters farm was bought from the Friedman family and occupancy taken by the van Ravesteyn family on the 1st of May 1979. The farm is located at the entrance to the Baviaanskloof, just 3km from the town of Willowmore on the N9 highway. It consists of +\- 6700 ha of Karoo veld and has a mix of flat and hillside terrain. In 2001 the original lapa was built. It started off as a gathering place for friends and family and gradually grew into a venue for groups to stay over and enjoy the stunning Karoo beauty and freshness.

The town Willowmore in the Eastern Cape is one of the largest Mohair producing districts in South Africa. It was laid out in 1862 on the farm The Willows and today boasts most of the amenities found in larger towns, including a hospital, airfield and golf course. It was run mainly as a small stock farm that included Angora and Boer goats, Dorper and Karakoel sheep.
We now invite you to join us on our journey to restoration and rejuvenation. We are in the process of clearing the area with a vision to rebuild the lapa area and surrounding area. We will post photos and information on this page of the process from start to completion.

A fully equipped self-catering cottage which sleeps 6 people comfortably.
Climb the Baakenskop for an elevated view of the beautiful Karoo Landscape.

Future plans include:
There will be 3 large tents for accommodation as well as a communal braai area separate to the lapa.
A track ridden out for motor bike enthusiasts which can also be utilised by mountain bikers.
A separate camping area to the tented accommodation with its own ablution block and incorporating a natural spring.
Activities on the farm will include hiking, fishing, horse riding and bird watching.
