More about Kloofhuis Guest House

Resting upon the slopes of the magnificent Makhonjwa Mountains and offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the De Kaap Valley from a stately veranda, the Kloofhuis Guesthouse offers the ideal lodging for tourist and businessman alike.

This Victorian styled house, built in 1890, possesses a grand historical background. During the South African war, at the dawn of the twentieth century, it was used as a soldier’s mess by the British military troops after which it came into the possession of the Wormal family for 50 years. In 1996 Steve Prinsloo converted it into a guest house and ever since many have delighted in its comfort and antique beauty.

Kloofhuis is ideally situated to explore the rich historical heritage and tranquil natural surrounds of Barberton, and is within walking distance from the town centre and various popular tourist attractions, such as museums and hiking trails. This quaint Mpumalanga town, founded during a gold rush in 1884, is conveniently within an hour’s journey from the Kruger National Park and virtually on the border of the Kingdom of Swaziland.
