At Klein Nektar we offer you the unique opportunity to stay on one of the few remaining town farms in the heart of historic Montagu.

This quaint Little Karoo town was founded in 1851 on what was then the farm "Uitflucht". The first erven were sold along Long Street (Route 62) and, thanks to the Montagu Heritage Society, a few of these town farms still exist today.

Experience the essence of Montagu, surrounded by the majestic Langeberg Mountains, by staying in one of our 2 exclusive-use accommodation options, situated on opposite ends of this picturesque 3-hectare estate.

Walk along the Chardonnay vineyard, amble through the fruit orchard and citrus grove and see if you can spot the Endangered Riverine Rabbit in the olive grove.

We practice organic and Integrated Pest Management farming solutions and therefore do not use any hard chemicals. IPM aims to manage harmful insects through the integrated use of numerous strategies, instead of using chemicals which are harmful to beneficial insects, the environment and humans.

With all the different fruits and vegetables we grow on the farm (including pecan and almond nuts, gooseberries, figs, olives, tomatoes, basil etc) and with our friendly “girls” that provide us with free-range eggs every day, we live a very privileged life at Klein Nektar and we hope to share this life with you too!


THE KLEIN NEKTAR MANOR B&B (EXCLUSIVE-USE BED & BREAKFAST ACCOMMODATION)

Our Klein Nektar Manor, built around 1860, offers an exquisite escape, perfect for a romantic special occasion for two or a private party of 4.

This Cape Dutch heritage house is one of the national monuments that forms part of the Historical Walk through Montagu.

Enjoy exclusive-use of 2 elegantly furnished en-suite bedrooms and 2 private lounges, relax in dappled shade on the patio under the vine with magnificent views of the craggy mountains and the stunning estate, cool off in the swimming pool which is solely for your use or recline in a pool lounger.

After sunset, savor the manor house atmosphere with a glass of wine in front of the outdoor fireplace or play a game of bar billiards on one of the few antique bar billiards tables in South Africa. You will get addicted to this traditional game that anyone can learn and play in a few minutes.

Breakfast is served in the original cellar adjacent to your accommodation. Enjoy farm-fresh eggs, organically grown fruits & vegetables, freshly squeezed orange or grapefruit juice in season and home baked bread.


THE KLEIN NEKTAR COTTAGE (EXCLUSIVE-USE SELF CATERING ACCOMMODATION)

Our self-catering Klein Nektar Cottage, situated in the olive trees, presents you with a very different type of getaway. This charming cottage offers accommodation for up to 4 guests, including an open plan farm style kitchen with fireplace, a spectacular deep, shaded wrap around terrace and a private garden with braai (bbq) area.

It doesn’t get more relaxing than this. The fully equipped cottage is off-the-grid; there is no electricity and no Wi-Fi. Solar lamps, a gas water heater and a gas fridge/freezer and stove/oven ensure you have all the mod cons to make life comfortable and the lack of electronics will ensure that you rest up in peace.


THE AREA

The centre of Montagu feels miles away from Klein Nektar Wine & Olive Estate, yet all the restaurants and shops are within easy walking distance.

You will find several great farm stall type establishments situated on Long Street, which we can highly recommend for breakfast or lunch.

An evening stroll through the town’s quiet streets towards Bath Street (one street behind Long Street) will get you to a variety of restaurants open for dinner.

Klein Nektar is also only a walk or short drive from various hiking trails and rock climbing, mountain bike trails, the Montagu Village Market, Joubert House Museum, Montagu Nature Garden, the Leidam Bird Sanctuary and art galleries.
