”Khanyi” means light. The business of Khanyi Designs is to make my customers' homes, my community and my environment a little bit brighter.
I’m passionate about creating and teaching. I enjoy exploring and sharing the potential of recyclables.
I am learning and teaching a skill which someone in my family must have had in my great-grandparents’ time. I have taught groups in Bathurst, Port Alfred and Grahamstown. It has been wonderful to see how enthusiastic the students at Enkuthazweni Skills Centre in Port Alfred are about weaving. I hope that in the future they will be able to supplement their disability grants by selling their own creations.
Khanyi Designs are original, often unique and easy to customize for people who enjoy having such an imaginatively-produced artefact in their homes. They are hand-painted with acrylic paint produced in South Africa, and sealed with water-based sealer to be water resistant.
