Karen is an illustrator and graphic designer, living on a farm outside Cape Town, South Africa.
The plants, animals, birds and the beauty of the surrounding landscape inspire many of her illustrations.
Karen’s work has been commissioned both locally and abroad. Clients include: Hodder UK, Macmillan Publishing Brazil, Oxford University Press SA & UK, Pearson South Africa, Cambridge University Press SA, McGraw-Hill Publishers; Australia, LAPA Publishers, Human & Rousseau, Tafelberg, Jupiter Drawing Room, Design Oval (Midrand) and FCB Durban.
After high school, Karen studied graphic design, earning a National Higher Diploma in Graphic Design specialising in conceptual illustration. She worked for a few years as a Graphic Designer before pursuing her dream of working full-time as a freelancer illustrator/designer.
Karen’s work is discussed and featured in a book entitled; Best Practice: The Pros on Adobe Photoshop written by Toni Toland published by Delmar Learning, New York (2006) and in SA Art Times (July 2010).
