The Shizen Tai club is one of the oldest and presently one of the most successful karate clubs in the Gauteng Region. It was established in 1971 by late Sensei Chris Kok, a member of the group of early South African karate pioneers. This group of founding fathers, Sensei’s Stan Schmidt and Norman Robinson, successfully established Japanese Shotokan Karate in this country and together with their students earned the South Africa the respect of Japan and the rest of the international karate world. Today André Kok his son and a 6th Dan black belt and karate Springbok, proudly continues in his footsteps to promote and teach karate, both as a sport and as a martial art in the Gauteng Region and the rest of the country.
The club is affiliated with the Gauteng North Provincial body (KAGANO) and both the karate associations of South Africa, KSA (Karate South Africa) and JKS (Japan Karate Shotokai)
