We are a Specialist Veterinary Practice with Medical and Surgical specialists.

Dr Dave Miller is a specialist physician and together with Dr Adri Scholtz run the medical practice and offer services in all fields of internal medicine. These fields include dermatology, cardiology, oncology [cancer therapy], urology and nephrology, musculo-skeletal disease including arthritis and endocrine disorders. Diagnostic radiology, ultrasonography and chemotherapy also form part of these services.

Dr Fanie Naude and Dr Sara Boyd are both specialist small animal surgeons and specialise in most areas of surgery including trauma, orthopaedic, soft tissue, neuro surgery and intra-abdominal surgery as well as Thoracic surgery and some cardio-vascular surgery. We also offer canine hip replacements and advanced cruciate ligament repair techniques.

Dr Dave Miller
Qualified as a veterinarian in 1991 and joined Onderstepoort Veterinary Academic Hospital in South Africa 1994-1997 as a medical resident and then as a Senior Lecturer 1997-2003. During this time he was head of the Companion Animal Section for 2 years.

He then joined the Ridgemall Specialist Referral Centre [now know as the Johannesburg Specialist Veterinary Centre] in Johannesburg as their head physician.

Dr Miller is an author or co-author on more than 10 peer reviewed publications, has 4 book chapters and has been an invited speaker at numerous congresses and continuing Education courses during the past 15 years.

Dr Miller is married to wife Sarah and they have 2 children, Robin and Noah. The Millers have multiple dogs, cats, horses, and chickens and fish on their small holding.

Dr Miller’s passion is making medical disease process’s understandable to clients and highlighting the great importance of early nutrition in Critical care as well as pain control in all aspects of Veterinary science.

Dr Fanie Naudé
Born in Johannesburg in 1974. Matriculated at Hoërskool Florida and from there went to the University of Pretoria to study Veterinary Science. After graduating in 1998, he joined the annual exodus to the United Kingdom to gain 2 years of experience in general practice. He joined Ridgemall Veterinary hospital (Johannesburg Specialist Veterinary Centre) in 2001 and soon developed a love for small animal surgery under the supervision of Dr Eugene Buffa. He completed his master’s degree in small animal surgery in 2007.

With a passion for surgery - especially for orthopaedic surgery, together with Dr Boyd and Miller they form the specialist team at JHB Specialist Veterinary Centre and pride themselves on patient care and client relations.

Dr Naudé is married to Riana and together have 2 daughters Elize and René. In his free time he plays as much golf as possible and also farms with pure indigenous Nguni cattle in conjunction with his father-in-law in the Limpopo province.

Dr Sara Boyd
Dr Sara Boyd graduated in 1997 from Onderstepoort with a BVSc. After graduating she went to England for 18 months where she worked in small animal practice. In 1999 she was offered a position back at Onderstepoort as a resident in the Department of Small Animal Surgery. Here she started her Masters degree in surgery and later became a senior lecturer. She left Onderstepoort in September 2001 to join Dr Eugene Buffa at Ridgemall Veterinary Hospital (now known as Johannesburg Specialist Veterinary Centre). She completed her MMVedVet degree in April 2004 and is currently a partner in this practice.

Her special interests lie in the field of soft tissue and neurosurgery. She has performed more than a thousand spinal decompression surgeries on dogs with a very high success rate. She is also performs orthopaedic surgeries including severe fracture repairs and TPLO procedures on torn cranial cruciate ligaments She has successfully completed international arthroscopy and total hip replacement courses.

In her spare time she enjoys show-jumping or playing tennis. Sara is married to Mark Boyd and has three children: Jordan, Tyler and Aimee.
