Jewel of the Cape Self Catering Cottage

The Jewel of the Cape cottage is about 1km west of the Tesselaarsdal village looking over the Hemel en Aarde Valley at the heart of the Overberg. In front of the stoep is Shaws mountain, home to extremely rare plants, the views in all directions are stunning, on a clear day you can see the Hottentots Holland mountains in the west, the Riviersonderend mountains and the Swellendam range in the East. The Rhenorsterbos around the cottage is pristine, the bird life is fantastic, buzzards are plentiful and be careful not to stand on the rare tortoises - see photos. The weather is as soft as only the Overberg can be. There are no main roads in the area, the peace is incredible.

There are walks, hikes and rides in and around the village, hikes and cycle tracks are marked and maps are provided. Enjoy the views with frog sounds and raptors flying overhead.
