Pierre van Niekerk finally received stud status for Jacre Limousins after a couple of years working through his appendix cows and developing a stud of his own. Three cows were imported from France: Voilet, Ursula and Amke. These lovely ladies were used with French and South African proven genetics to head the Jacre herd to what it is today. Pierre emphasises the advantages of the stud animal as well as the concept of "hybrid vigour", and is, at present, the only person in South Africa to have produced the Southern African Champion beef carcass on two occasions (1999/2000 and 2004/2005)
