ITHUBA COMMUNITY COLLEGES - ICC

ITHUBA COMMUNITY COLLEGES are independent school, skills and community centres which offer free education to socially disadvantaged learners. The Ithuba Skills and Community Centre in Johannesburg (E-Montic Park) trains unemployed youth.

At ITHUBA quality of education is monitored and developed further with the support of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education and Women's Affairs - BMBF (www.bmbf.gv.at).

ITHUBA COMMUNITY COLLEGE JOHANNESBURG (ICC JHB) is a pre- and primary school (grade R - 7) in Ekurhuleni Municipality. ICC JHB includes Ithuba Skills and Community Centre (ISC).

ICC JHB offers general an vocational education to learners from age 4-13 (pre- and primary school). ISC is open to participants with a mininum age of 16. The campus is situated in close proximity to the townships of Magagula Heights and Zonkiziwe (E-Montic Park).

ICC JHB classes comprise a maximum of 30 learners in primary school and maximum of 15 participants in skills training.

ICC JHB does not charge school fees.

ITHUBA COMMUNITY COLLEGE WILD COAST (ICC WC) is a pre- and primary school that was founded in 2010. Currently it offers grade R to grade 4.


BUILDING ITHUBA
ICC campuses are the result of a collaborative building project comprising construction teams of unemployed township youth and students of architectural faculties (Austria, Germany, Slovenia, etc.). ICC campus buildings aim at the promotion of traditional African and modern sustainable building styles. Through construction and maintainance personal and vocational skills of unemployed youth are strengthened.
