Irene Primary School was started in September 1901, during the Anglo-Boer War (1899 - 1902).
The school catered for the Boer children living in the Irene Concentration Camp.
We have a long and proud history, depicted through numerous photographs and original documents, which are housed in the school Reception.
We continually strive to build on this proud heritage. We boast a high-calibre staff contingent, who work hard to not only educate our learners, but develop them socially, morally and ethically.
Our staff hold the learners and each other to a high standard, and this has resulted in the school receiving numerous commendations from officials of the Gauteng Education Department, who visit the school to conduct various management and oversight functions.
