International Municipal Governance and Administration College - IMGAC

The International Municipal Governance and Administration College (IMGAC) is a local government Seta accredited training institution in South Africa. It offers accredited and internationally benchmarked municipal governance and administration training and capacity building courses.

IMGAC is a brainchild of Dr. Makhosi Khoza, a well known local government practitioner with over 15 years experience in this field.

IMGAC came about after a successful international exchange programme initiated by Khoza with Appalachian State University in North Carolina, United States of America which saw about a hundred municipal practitioners and other public service officials drawn from the National parliament and KZN legislature who were attached to the White House in Washington DC, State government departments and municipalities in North Carolina for three weeks learning through working there. The delegation from the USA also came to South Africa to learn by participating in our municipalities as visiting employees.

The experience gained from this was overwhelming. It became clear that Africa Governance Transformation (AGT) also a brainchild of Khoza must establish an independent specialized International Municipal Governance and Administration College.

IMGAC though new in paper is essentially been in existence since 2007 and has trained thousands of municipal practitioners around the country and the continent. It literally took over all AGT training and capacity building legacy, institutional memory and experience as it inherited all its material and rich history.

It was conceptualized in 2010 and finally registered and got its local government Seta accreditation in 2013
