The Institute of Safety Officers is a specialized-disciplined Occupational Safety Training Provider focusing on education and training for all Safety Officers. . We aim to set world class occupational safety standards; guidelines; morals and ethics for all Safety Officers and Practitioners.

It also serves to protect the interests of all Safety Officers and Practitioners.

Initially formed in 1998 by dedicated individuals who recognized the need for skills transformation among Safety Officers and Practitioners in SA.

The Institute of Safety Officers serves its learners/ students and affiliations in the Southern African region as the Governing Body of all Safety Officers and Safety Practitioners by providing Specialized Competency Outcomes Based Accredited Safety Courses and whole qualification/ modules with special emphasis on competency and skills transformation; also assessoring and certifying; thereby providing accreditation to all those who meets these requirements.

We therefore promise to deliver an outstanding level of Competency Outcomes Based Safety Training, thus improving the occupational safety standards amongst all Safety Officers and Practitioners.

In today occupational health and safety industry the HSE Officer needs to possess certain skills (theory & practical) that he will need to use in his given position. These skills must be acquired over a period of time. An essential and basic grounding of HSE rules; legislation; and terminology is necessary to enhance one’s career.

The formation of the Institute of Safety Officers is to promote; set standards; identify training needs; and for the Advancement of the Safety Officers Profession. These are in line with international health & safety standards and norms.

Our offices are based in Durban and our training is conducted at various training & and conference venues to accommodate the need for this type of training. We do not wish to become competitors to other training providers; but we will develop a strong bond; assist and share information between all training providers.
