The Faculty of Humanities at the University of the Witwatersrand is one of the leading centres of undergraduate and postgraduate studies and research in South Africa and Africa. It offers a wide range of programmes. Some of these are vocationally oriented, others are theory and research oriented and imparts critical analytical skills that offer graduates access to a range of careers. In practice, the Faculty seeks to creatively and critically engage with its location in Johannesburg – arguably South Africa’s most globally networked city. The Faculty incorporates the following five Schools, Wits School of Art, Wits School of Education, School of Human and Community Development, School of Literature, Language and Media and School of Social Sciences.
