Hope- Mandeville Disability Careers Expo

Hope School, together with Mandeville Disability Swimming hosts an annual Careers Exhibition. The main focus of the event is to investigate employment and learnership opportunities for persons with disabilities provided by Corporates, Government Departments, Training Centers, Practical Job Providers, Colleges and Sheltered Employment. Learners are encouraged to explore different opportunities that are available to them within their respective physical, intellectual, hearing or visual constraints. The purpose of the Expo is therefore to bridge the gap between disabled school leavers and employers.
Grade 10, 11 and 12 leaners from disability schools (LSEN- Learners with Special Educational Needs) in Gauteng [roughly five hundred learners annually including about two hundred in Grade 12] as well as students about to graduate from Universities and Further Education and Training Colleges (FET’s) with disabilities attend the Annual Careers Expo.
Exhibitors receive access to a database containing CV's of every Grade 12 learner who attends the Expo.
The Careers Expo aims to educate and inform school and university leavers about the various options available to them once they leave their respective schools and universities. The Careers Expo also aims to provide Exhibitors with the opportunity to fulfill placements, learnerships and bursaries. Information with regard to accessibility and learner support is provided.
Celebrities and guest speakers are in attendance to motivate and encourage both learners and career providers.
