More about Heritage Guest House Alexandria

Heritage Guest House in the small town of Alexandria offers affordable and comfortable accommodation in nine units. Doubles and Twins en suite and Twins and Singles with private bathrooms.

Previously called Olifantshoek (Elephant's Corner) - where Addo elephants once roamed freely - the town was renamed Alexandria in honour of Alexander Smith, the first Dutch Reformed Church Dominee sent here to look after the local gemeente (congregation). The Xhosa name for the town is Emnyameni which means "at the rainbow".

Originally known as Alexandria Hotel, this guesthouse began serving travellers in March 1852 and has been doing so continuously since then and from 1987 has been steadily upgraded by owner/managers Kathleen and Peter Gordon.

In November 2007 the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa (TGCSA) rewarded their efforts by awarding:
3 stars - TGCSA

Known for their delicious country-style breakfasts, the guest house is licensed and from Monday to Friday, lunches and dinners can be had by prior arrangement.

Security gates ensure safe open parking for guests behind the Guest House.
