Optima Special Care Centre is run by George APD (Association for Persons with Disabilities) and is offering educational care for 50 children and 20 adults with disabilities from different parts of the George community. Optima is currently the only centre of its kind in this area. We aim to provide a safe, non threatening environment for 50 children and 20 adults with severe disabilities on a daily basis and make use of individual programs to ensure that each child/adult reaches his/her optimal point of functionality. The program includes breakfast, self care, story and music time, work time (gross and fine motor skills), free play and lunch time. The children/adults are picked up in the morning and dropped off in the afternoon by bus and school time stretches from 07:00 am to 15:00 pm.
We also have stimulation programs in place that are intergrated into their daily programs and children/adults are assisted by an Occupational Therapist as well as a Physiotherapist (on appointment).
