Young black LGBTI people recognised that it is important to address the intolerable levels of levels of homophobia, gender based violence, as well as the lack of social and psychological support networks within FS. The birth of FS Peo ya Mookdi (aka Rainbow Seeds) is a direct response to address:
• The lack of leadership within the LGBTI community to address issues of systemic exclusion from broader society, including cultural, educational, religious, public heath institutions etc.,
• Redefine and set up local, provincial and national support networks to mobilise resources to address the specific needs and interests of LGBTI people in FS.
Members of the organisation, then called FS LGBTI, approached ICAP-FS MARPS regional coordinator in mid-November requesting support to formalise the organisation. The organisation now has twenty five (25) Staff members and a draft constitution submitted to Department of Social Development – FS in January 2013 and now we are a registered
