Footprints arts and crafts centre, situated in the secure Anchors Aweigh Resort in Hibberdene, is the ideal sanctuary for people carrying a heavy burden and looking for a way to ease their pain with some art and craft therapy.
Owner Amanda has drawn on traumatic events in her own life and her subsequent recovery process, to develop a creative retreat based on solid Christian principles. The name Footprints was derived from the well-known piece of inspirational writing that describes how Jesus carries us in our most difficult times and is indicative of Amanda’s goals for the studio.
Arts and crafts are well known therapeutic methods used to assist in the spiritual, physical and emotional healing of people from all walks of life. Regularly used to help focus attention away from a troublesome issue or to provide an outlet for anger or pain, art therapy has played a predominant role in psychiatric and occupational therapy for hundreds of years.
Footprints offers classes in mosaic work, water colour painting and glazing. Personalisation is very important to Amanda and she uses each person’s individual issues as a compass for what art mode is best suited to their fulfilment and/or recovery.
All materials necessary for each of the craft media will be available in the studio for purchase by clients and walk-in customers.
As the need grows, Footprints will add further art modalities to the offerings. All ages are welcome to come and experience the therapeutic benefits that art and crafts provides, in the assurance that they are surrounded by people who care.
