FastNet is the specialised wireless connectivity and M2M solutions division within the Telkom Group. Founded in 1994, FastNet’s legacy is to enable secure payment connectivity from merchants to financial institutions in South Africa.

The FastNet team strives on product and commercial innovation. As an aggregator of wireless access and best-of-breed platform technologies, FastNet designs, deploys and manages primary or back-up wireless connectivity for major enterprises and SMEs. This includes both wide area and wireless local area networks. FastNet acquired and manages Telkom’s network of 6,000 WiFi hotspots, and also delivers fit-for-purpose community, corporate and omni-channel WiFi solutions to the market.

FastNet is extending its M2M solutions offering through new technology. FastNet is a founding and contributing member of the LoRa Alliance and launched the country’s first dedicated low-power IoT developer network. With a dedicated IoT engineering function, FastNet develops value adding smart enablement solutions to enterprises in South Africa to drive operational, customer and product excellence.
