Erinvale Golf Club

Erinvale Golf Club is situated in the heart of the Helderberg Basin surrounded by neighboring wine estates Vergelegen and Lourensford, as well as the Helderberg nature reserve. Having opened in May 1995, the 18 hole Gary Player design championship layout has already hosted the 1996 World Cup of Golf and two SA Opens in '03 and '04 in its short existence. Established on one of the countries few successful golf estates, the superbly manicured course is renowned for its challenging layout and fantastic vistas of False Bay. The course has two very distinct nines, with the front nine meandering through the relatively flat real estate at the foot of the Helderberg Mountain, and the back nine ascending the foothills. A signature of the course are the large elongated and slightly raised greens, well protected by menacing pot bunkers strategically placed to gobble up any misdirected shots. The massive Poa Annua greens are ideal for a variety of course set-ups and one could easily have a 4-club difference in front-and-back pins.
