Epilepsy SA, Gauteng Branch

Epilepsy South Africa was founded 43 years ago for the purpose of serving all South Africans affected by epilepsy. During the years our focus has hanged to all people with disabilities. The Gauteng branch is based in Springs and has two residential care centres where 225 adults with epilepsy and other disabilities enjoy 24 hour holistic care. Apart from the residential centres, the organisation also operates two protective workshops, one in Springs and the other in Johannesburg where 84 disabled day clients from surrounding areas are constructively employed.

Although Epilepsy South Africa is subsidised by the Department of Social Development, the subsidy only covers approximately 50% of the organisation’s expenses. We are dependent on organisations, like yourselves to supplement our income, either through financial contributions or by means of ‘Gifts-in-Kind’.
